What a great visit to LW Christian Church in New Lenox today. The sermon started with this song by Ray Charles….(you don’t know me), a good song, but kinda sad… right? Which is a thought provoking topic to really think about as we ponder such a topic. I’m going to indulge and share even more of my thoughts with what the pastor shared today. It’s kinda important stuff this relationship thing!!!!

The crowd – does anyone really know me?

Ponder it. Do you know me? Do you know your “friends”, “acquaintances”, “family/relatives”, “neighbors”, etc? Probably not as much as you think. We usually just know the surface things. Stay with me here… I’ll dig a bit deeper……..

Most of us who have been around for awhile get it. We know that there’s no perfect relationship. We misunderstand, love, like, mistreat, take for granted, get snarky and so on. (We won’t dive into the real ugly ~ for the sake of not going down a negative bunny trail!). What I will add here, is that we must keep in mind, that once sin came into the world, we needed a Redeemer. Adam and Eve broke the perfect plan by eating the apple. So…. we know all people are fallen, sinful and live in the flesh. With that said, we know that some are just nicer folks than others. This brings to a head, grace, mercy and honesty to all. Communication (appropriately executed) is key to keeping relationships running as smooth as possible. We “soulfully join our spirit with others”.

Relationships are work. This is something we really need to emphasis to our children when they are young and formative. It’ll save a lot of hurt and pain later down the road, learning how to build relationships.

If at best, we might have one or two super close people in our life. But we can work on improving such associations and live as peacefully as we can, because we need each other more than we need technology. God made us for relationships. (I will add, there are some times that we need to remove ourselves from volatile people who refuse to work at communications and developing themselves and with others. Another topic for another day).

We usually show most of our colors of the rainbow as we spend time with people. Those we work with, the family we live with; they know our idiosyncrasies, the outline of our lives, what we eat, our families etc. That’s a pretty close relationship over all. But even closer is that of our spouse, children and parents. BUT, sometimes those closest to us don’t see or like when we stretch out into new waters. New goals, new things we do to improve and grow, make others nervous, jealous and so forth. So, communication is key, being open and honest).

I tell the story in my new book “Forever Hope”, how God brought me to this little podunk town back in 1970, as a young girl, to meet my best friend. We became soul sisters. I never imagined the depth of care, concern, love, fun, and joy in having someone that never condemned, no jealousy, and never had an argument. We had fun together, we laughed, we cried, and grew in each season of life together. In all my relationships in life, no one matched the level she and I had. We could sit quietly with no words for long periods of time. We could talk, fix people, fix each other ( or try to at least, lol). We often talked how rare it was to have a long lasting relationship with no boats rocked – never! We loved each other for who we were. And we were opposite in many ways.

But the bigger point in this story, is twofold. Without God, we cannot love others.

Matthew 22:36-40
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. … then to love others as you love yourself.

We cannot love others when we struggle with our own issues. We need to be whole and not the master of our own destiny. God planned our lives out before we were born! The only way to work that out in this world is to break the cycles. Be honest with yourself and the shortcomings. It is a work in progress for our WHOLE life. Cuz once we conquer one issue, we gotta get to and through the next. Take care of you by running to the Father. Asking for forgiveness through the blood of Jesus.

This chapter explains it perfectly. Stop and reflect as you read it. Know that the power of God is in you, on you and with you. Reach into HIS heart and let him enter into your heart……

Psalm 139

You know me Lord

You have searched me, Lord,
and you know me.
You know when I sit and when I rise;
you perceive my thoughts from afar.
You discern my going out and my lying down;
you are familiar with all my ways.
Before a word is on my tongue
you, Lord, know it completely.
You hem me in behind and before,
and you lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too lofty for me to attain.

Where can I go from your Spirit?
Where can I flee from your presence?
If I go up to the heavens, you are there;
if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.
If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast.
If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me
and the light become night around me,”
even the darkness will not be dark to you;
the night will shine like the day,
for darkness is as light to you.

For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.
How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
How vast is the sum of them!
Were I to count them,
they would outnumber the grains of sand—
when I awake, I am still with you.

If only you, God, would slay the wicked!
Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty!
They speak of you with evil intent;
your adversaries misuse your name.
Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord,
and abhor those who are in rebellion against you?
I have nothing but hatred for them;
I count them my enemies.
Search me, God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.
See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.

  1. Psalm 139:17 Or How amazing are your thoughts concerning me

God is with us each moment of each day. He is ever present, and knows everything in our mind and heart before we even act on it. Reaching for eternity is key. The promise is the most important relationship we have. God first, others then ourselves. But we need to be sure to wake up each day, seeking forgiveness when we fall short, make mistakes, say things we should not have, loose the temper etc etc etc. God loves us. He loves YOU. He is personal and generational. he loves the young, and the old and the in-between! His promises are for all of us. No matter where you go, no matter what you do. No matter the struggle. Seek God. Talk to him like you’d talk to your soul mate. If you don’t have a soul mate, you know how to imagine that relationship. God is that and a bag of chips! 🙂

May we be kind to ourselves, which in turn will turn into kindness to others. May our lives be a double fold blessing to everyone we meet. Even if they don’t want to accept the gift of joy, love and happiness.. those are the ones who are lacking love most. Pray for them.

People need to know you care. People need the Lord. You are showing HIS love in a tangible way when taking the time to say a hello, get to know someone on a deeper level. Spend time together. Make a difference today! Don’t let people be faceless and alone. Let’s promise to dig deep with the help of our Savior, who will show us how to build each relationship in its unique way. God is faithful to help us.

Catch the truth of God and ALL he has for you in this day and time. Be sure to read the Bible every day. Pray every day… even if it’s on the way to work. you can speak outloud or quietly in your mind. God hears your heart.

Prayer: Lord God, I need you, every hour every day. You know me well. And I admit I need you more than breath itself. Help me today within my own life. Heal my body, my mind and my heart. I need to release some things so I can be whole. you are the one who can do that. Forgive me for being short tempered, judgmental, and hurtful in words and actions. Help me to do better each day. Quicken in my soul when I am about to go to a dark bunny hole of sin. I repent. My heart wants to be joyful, live in peace, love and have mercy and grace that abounds from your heart, through mine. Thank you Jesus for all you’ve done for me. The Great I Am. God of all creation. I love you. Amen

Psalm 94:19 niv
Psalm 94:19 niv

Effort : the result of an attempt
If you want principle to take seed into your life,                                                                be certain to plant seed where you want.
If you desire to be respected, honored, with humility and grace, you must also be humble. You reap what you sow.
So, if you demand, throw fits, cuss, swear, or things of that nature, don’t expect others to treat you with dignity.
Place into your mind, thoughts of love, grace, others before yourself,                honor, care, and use these wonderful nouns as you would sow into a  garden.

          Cultivate positivity  into your everyday life or the opposite will run wild like weeds in and around your life.
Let your mind think of goodness and care. When someone you       encounter is  difficult, ask yourself why or what could be the matter in their                         life that they are   acting out the way they are. Something is usually amiss.                                                    Take time to nurture and grow trust and allow your caring ways to help them to become calm
Become a helper, not be part of the problem.
Let go of impure thoughts and frustrations.                                                                   Grace and mercy  overcome all things bad.

God gives us instruction to not let anxiety or worry or frustration rule our minds, nor to be discouraged.

Focus your mind,with God’s amazing help, in prayer, and surrender, take captive your thoughts so you can overcome the devil’s ploy to keep you living frustrated or in anger. But live in peace and love !!!

2 Corinthians 10: 3-6
We are human, but we don’t wage war as humans do. We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstacle that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to obey Christ. And after you have become fully obedient, we will punish everyone who remains disobedient.

Philippians 4:4-8
Always be full of joy in the Lord. I say it again—rejoice!
Let everyone see that you are considerate in all you do. Remember, the Lord is coming soon.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.

And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Psalm 94:19

When anxiety was great within me,
your consolation brought me joy.

Father thank you so much for your love and patience with me, I ask for a double portion of grace and patience when I feel frustrated. I welcome the Holy Spirit every day, and ask that You help me with living out YOUR WORD GOD. I need you every hour of every day. Your grace is always enough, and I praise you all day long for what you give me! ~ Amen!

Key Scripture

Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb!

                                    Revelation 19:9
This verse is timely, yet again. God’s Word opens up my mind and heart when I am tender to his teachings. Shortly before Brian died, we did a Banquet “play” at our church. He joined me, as I was “in” the short visual that was a banquet table and based on this verse, Revelation 19:9;)
As the ladies and I played out the message – little did I know at the time, that within a few weeks time, he would be walking on streets of Gold, with our heavenly Father. Just in time, as only God – our Father, would and could do. … The message was very clear to Brian, (after much guilt and do I dare say, condemnation from the Priest at his previous church),Brian yearned for acceptance from God – and this message, from Rev. 19:9 was what Brian needed to hear. He felt free (Brian’s words to me as we talked about the message over a few days time following that precious Sunday Service), and accepted by Jesus. Free to take communion,

knowing God’s love over his life was real. And it belonged to Brian as he accepted Jesus fully, and with out guilt.
Salvation is a free gift. Jesus died for your freedom. He loves you with an everlasting love.
Eternity awaits for YOUR decision to accept Jesus as your Savior. Accept Him today, into your heart. Mercy and Grace are yours, as you live in pure freedom as you trust God in and for your life.
If you have accepted him today, and want to acknowledge Him before others let me know, and I will send you a beautiful booklet I created to remind you Who you are in Christ! Send me a message at donna.dbpbd@gmail.com and I will send you this book today!

Matthew 10:32 tells us: Confessing Christ
32″Therefore everyone who confesses Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven. 33″But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father who is in heaven.
Rejoicing happens as we praise and acknowledge Christ!
This is the best reward and gift you can ever receive. Like Brian, who has been in Heaven for 19 years this week, I /we rejoice in his total freedom, today and always. What a precious gift, as we were obedient as a congregation, as a wife, and Brian, who came to church that day- for that time. I thank you Jesus. You are indeed, a Good Good Father!

From Praying the Names of Jesus Week Nineteen, Day Three
The Name (of God)

God is not content to be known merely as Creator, Lord, or even Father. Incredibly he reveals himself also as Bridegroom or Husband. The Hebrew Scriptures contain numerous allusions to Yahweh as Israel’s divine Husband, and the New Testament presents Christ as the church’s Bridegroom. He is the Holy One who did not cling to his divinity but left his Father’s house to dwell among us, calling us to become one with him in the most intimate way possible. To all of us, male and female, Christ offers himself as our provider and protector, the one who has forever pledged himself in faithfulness and love.

Here is Chris Tomlin, singing Good Father

a beautiful song that expresses His love for each of us! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqybaIesbuA

Prayer: Thank you Father God for Jesus’s life, the sacrifice of pure Love so that we can have salvation and eternity with You one day, when you call me home, I am secure and loved by you. Your grace and  mercy extend to all who seek You. Each day is a sweet gift that you give us,and we  PRAISE your Holy Name for the love you have for me, and my family.

Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, as manifested in the salvation of sinners and the gift of blessings.

Do I deserve grace? No.

How about God’s Grace? No! Not at all!
Do I desire God’s grace – a resounding yes!

What a relief, that in the midst of all my err’s, wrong thought processing, mistakes, and at times a lifestyle that doesn’t quite measure up to God’s best. Oh, the list is long, with so many things I do that break God’s heart. Like the time (oops, many times) I was impatient with my kids. How about the time I gave “the LOOK” to the girl at the checkout because  she got the order wrong. Oops (got busted by my high school son on that one, checkmate).

How undeserving  I am  to enjoy the fruits of our / my contrite spirit, and a head bowed to  the King  of Kings who  knows my heart and wants to bring me close to Him.  I surrender.  Father forgive me for I have sinned against you and man.  And when I go to that sweet place of not pushing my way, or ignoring my short fallings,  he embraces me, and forgives me. He knows my name, he knows my heart and everything that I do – before I do it. Which makes it so much easier to run into his safe arms, as he offers me grace, and mercy. He will do the same for you! Will you pause break, reflect on somethings that you might need to let loose of in your life, maybe it’s  a big sin, maybe it’s a bad habit, could be a temper that needs to be tamed. the list can  go on for pages. God loves you. He desires to hold you close and cleanse your heart and soul, as well as the nature of your being that needs some changing.

Father, thank you for your sweeet love for me.  You never give up on me, but seek after me, even when I run my own way. I have to remind myself daily, that before I get my day on, and each night before I go to sleep, I need to come into your safe arms, and talk to you about what happened, along with all my concerns. You care. You help. I need you, every hour of every day! I praise you for  your mercy and grace, and am so glad to   have you as my Savior and my Daddy.

Grace Scriptures (NIV)

2 Corinthians 12
8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me.
9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
Romans 3: 20
Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify.
22 This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.
John 1:14
The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

What do you do with the struggles of life, so many pains, hurts and obstacles to deal with? Mistakes made that are so huge you think you can never overcome them.

Searching for answers. Which way to turn. Do I Stand still or do I move?

God never meant for us to live life on our own, or in our own strength. He strengthens us and gives us direction throughout every big, and little details.

Psalm 18:32 It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect.

Isaiah 49:9 to say to the captives, ‘Come out,’ and to those in darkness, ‘Be free!’ “They will feed beside the roads and find pasture on every barren hill.

Do you feel like you’ve missed the mark, made the wrong turn, there’s damage done to others, yourself or _____. (You fill in the blank.)

We can never move forward in life if we don’t conquer our own issues. If you’ve come to a place of surrender, stop. Let God help. Let Him guide and direct in the way you should go.

Romans 8:1  There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

Seems easy right? It really is once we relinquish the fight. I know, I’ve been there, and continue to learn – daily. We never really “arrive” until we let God move in and trust in him so completely, that we wonder why did I wait so long to let God do what he needs to do.

Let him take over. Take your hands off of it, whatever it is. Whether its letting go of an adult child, an alcoholic spouse, a job that you just can’t bear, lack of funds, or sickness. There is nothing so far gone that He sees as irrevocable or something so seemingly permanent that it cannot be changed. God is a God who restores; he takes our mistakes, errs and turns them each into good things. He is that awesome and wonderful. His names are Wonderful – Counselor and Mighty God, he is so full of mercy, and slow to anger.

Isaiah 9:6 For to us a child is born. To us a son is given; and the government will be on his shoulders. His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Psalms 145:8 The Lord is full of grace and pity; not quickly angry, but great in mercy. …

Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Many people have had the misconception that God is one of wrath and anger. No!!! How could he make all that He made – the Creator of the Universe?  The one who made the ocean meet the sky. The one who makes the sun to rise every morning with hues so beautiful – we stand in awe! He made YOU, in his own image. He is jealous for you! He wants YOU and all of your attentions to be towards Him in and through life’s entire journey!!

Think of it this way: You have a child, one that you waited and planned for, for years. This perfect specimen arrives on its day – specified for that moment in time by God himself. You love that child; you take care of him/her. Bath, feed, coddle, love, kiss and make sure he/she is well at all costs. You have become so crazy in love with this child. To be away from him/ her for long extended periods of time, just eats you up inside. You desire to be with this child. This child grows up to be an adult, and decides to not be in contact with you much. Don’t you just want to loose a gasket?!?!?! Sure you do! That is how it is with God. He YEARNS for your attention. Your undying love to him – just as he feels towards you.

Though your own child may upset you, do inappropriate things at times, make big and small mistakes – but that does not change the way you feel. You still want to be with that child, at all costs. Because you also know you can help him/her to prevent making mistakes, you can guide them – just like the Father in Heaven wants to do for you – except he knows all things – at all times.

Won’t you come to the safety of the Most High God. The one who gave you life and wants to help you along the way. Life is much too fleeting to wait. Don’t waste yet another moment of sleepless nights, headaches or worse. Come to the Father. Today. Give him all of your thoughts and concerns. I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

Let’s pray:

Lord thank you for this gracious most awesome LOVE you give to me. You are such a mighty God, I am in awe of what you do and how you love me so. Thank you for your mercy, and grace. Lord I let go of what I am struggling with this very moment. I am letting you take the reigns; I have tried to fix it, and just made things worse. I don’t want to struggle; you have set me free, and do not condemn me. For that I am grateful. I ask and trust that you move these mountains that stand so high in front of me, and let YOU remove them with my faith and will not doubt. I want to be like those before me who like in Hebrews 11, had such great faith to trust you. I want to be that person too. I praise you and am expecting your wonderful power to shine through so you get all the glory!
Love you Jesus !

Galatians 6:4-5 Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else. For each one should carry their own load;

The current blogs have been based out of a bible Study from
Lysa Terkeurst book Unglued http://melissataylor.org
This book as been most insightful for me, as I see how the Lord is bringing “life” confirming action into place, as I surrender to the teaching.
This week’s chapter (10) has been based on the “negative chatter” in our lives. Those misguided thoughts that turn into perceptions that can turn dangerous.
Imagine a circumstance, situation, challenge, or communication that is making life cah-razeey?? What is it about? How did it happen? What brought you to your conclusion that made you go crazy?
Once you “rationalize” it for a moment, is that “fixation” a reality, or is it a conjured up idea that your imagination has run ramped? When we let our thought life run wild, insecurity sets in, destructive words fall into play, it tends to end up hurting those closest to us. Toxic thoughts are opposite of what the truth is.
Wrong perception is a false reality (f.e.a.r = false evidence appearing real). When we have those moments of what we “imagine” the other person is saying or thinking, those runaway thoughts hinder our thinking, it can cloud our minds; “but positive thoughts allow us to process a situation accurately and respond in a healthy way.”

Instead of dwelling on a thought, conversations, or misunderstanding, confront it in and with love, for the sake of clarity. The truth always prevails. Don’t let misconstrued thoughts take the reign!

  •  Choose prayer over worry! Immerse your mind in the Word of God!
  •  Don’t hyper analyze!
  •  We should be valuing relationships and be supportive of each other.
  •  We don’t’ need the approval of man, but of God – therefore be obedient to Him at all times, He will lead the way every time!

We have so many emotions, especially us ladies, but God’s amazing Grace offers us the Bible as our guide to wisdom in handling every situation! Praise God – I am on HIS SIDE!

When comparison arises in the mind, it splits open like a dropped watermelon. Or as Lysa put it, (p 193), like a plow cutting a line in the soil to sow seed. We harvest what we speak or think about. So, I ask, what thoughts are you thinking today?

· Thoughts of jealousy? (this is what I am not)

· Thoughts of lack? (what I don’t have)

· Thoughts of comparison? (I’m not as pretty or talented as that person)

· How about coveting? )(they have it better than me)

· Then there is the if only’s (if I could go back and change things)

These are negative, life sucking thoughts, which entangle the mind and then plant deep into the heart. Therefore, what we think about turns into action – negative actions like lashing out, crying, or frustration. The feelings of inadequacy (which is not much more than lack of confidence) sets in and then it very well turns into a storm that erupts either in the mind or physically. Not so good, huh?!?

Shall we compare and or condemn ourselves or celebrate what God has done in our individual life?

Satan came to kill steal and destroy, (John 10:10), he wants you to live in defeated thoughts because you can never move forward into your fullest most potential life when you settle in negative thoughts.

Allow God to teach you, have a willing and humble heart. He will take the insecurities, hurts and pain you have encountered, and build you up. Why? It is His purpose that you life to the fullest. Praise God! Keep a teachable spirit. Don’t look to people as your source to fill you up. Look to the Maker of your soul, he loves you with an everlasting love!

Go on, I dare you – go a little bit higher in your life – don’t settle in the situation you are in today. God’s got a plan, to strengthen you, to transform you, a moment at a time. After all we are in this for a lifetime. We can’t start the race and finish well, without training, building, learning, leaning, falling, getting back up, and sometimes starting over, so don’t get frustrated, just refocus. Sometimes that means getting quiet. Let Him show you the way. He will help you, when you lean on Him. And don’t forget to communicate with those around you along the way. No one is a mind reader, nor can someone help you unless you reach out and ask; if someone doesn’t willingly want to be an active participant in your life, let them go, and move onto someone who CAN be a partaker in your life, in a healthy manner! It’s a  process.

What we think about turns into actions— Or reactions. You can change that all – by first, praising God for what you DO have. Try it for two weeks, don’t think about the lack, issues, think of the joy of the Lord and all he does do for you, and you will see a change.

Psalm 126:2

our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, The Lord has done great things for them.”

Philippians 4:4-9

Be full of joy in the Lord always. I will say again, be full of joy. Let everyone see that you are gentle and kind. The Lord is coming soon. Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God’s peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Brothers and sisters, think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. Do what you learned and received from me, what I told you, and what you saw me do. And the God who gives peace will be with you.

Final thought:
1. Christ died for our sins, His grace is enough and always He is greater than our deepest fears!

2. An apology is not necessary to forgive.

3. Forgiveness doesn’t mean we have to maintain a relationship with that person

4. God is the ultimate judge — go ahead trust Him!

    Let’s pray! Lord, thank you for a  good teaching, from wonderful teachers, as well as your Word. I am grateful to have a sound mind, as I seek after your perfect will in and through my life. I pray that as I seek wisdom, I  pray I will not over react, when I do, I will quickly repent, and ask the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide my heart and mind. I will quickly seek forgiveness to anyone whom I may have offended or who may have offended me (innocently, directly or indirectly). Thank you for your grace and love Lord Jesus, I want  to  honor you with my life. Let me be a positive example of your love and that it will abound in and through me as it does through you Jesus!

— as an extra side note:  here is God’s love letter to you:
